Resources- Find a Clinic
While there is not as yet an Indian Health Service clinic in the Houston area, many community health clinics in Harris County, Texas and neighboring counties offer affordable medical services. NAHC is currently collecting information about healthcare needs in Southeast Texas. Harris County Hospital District
The Harris County hospital district operates 3 hospitals and 13 clinics that offer services at a reduced fee if you qualify. While medical care is not free at HCHD facilities, there is financial assistance for those who qualify  based on your household income. You may qualify for partial financial assistance, on a sliding scale, including: full pay, half pay or a nominal co-pay. In order to receive services at a reduced fee you must complete a Gold Card application. Effective August 15, 2010, all HCHD Gold Card patients will be asked to make a minimum payment at the time of their hospital or clinic visit, except for pediatric and prenatal care visits. Insurance plan co-pays will be collected according to plan requirements. Go to http://www.hchdonline.com/about/facilities/directions.htm for a map of clinic and hospital locations.
